Environmentally friendly materials, the application in the design of children's furniture!

  As an indispensable appliance in the growth environment of children, the safety of furniture plays a very important role in the healthy growth of children. However, traditional furniture materials are insufficient in safety and sustainability, which makes environmentally friendly materials widely concerned and applied in the design of children's furniture. At present, the more common children's furniture materials on the market include wood, plastic, fabric, leather, and so on. But more or less there are certain defects. Therefore, children's furniture gradually embodies the trend of green design. The choice of materials determines whether the furniture is environmentally friendly and comfortable. The most important thing for furniture products that are in contact with children is the choice of materials. Next, three environmentally friendly materials are introduced, namely paper materials, ecological materials, and wood-plastic composite materials.

1. Paper materials

  Paper materials are popular with the public for their tenacious flexibility and have good air permeability, which can be warm in winter and cool in summer. Since the paper material is easy to color, it can have a wealth of color choices, which can meet the needs of children's physical and mental health. The more common cardboard furniture generally uses corrugated cardboard and honeycomb cardboard for children's furniture, which can be designed through processes such as scribing, scoring, and pasting. In addition, the most common is the cardboard splicing furniture, which can be bionic and educational design according to children's preferences, which is of great benefit to the development of children's intellectual education.


2. Ecological materials

  In recent years, the use of bamboo and rattan materials has become more widespread, which greatly reduces the consumption of wood. Because bamboo and rattan materials do not contain chemical substances, they are safer and more environmentally friendly and grow fast and renewable. Laminated bamboo is one of the commonly used materials for children's furniture. It not only retains the characteristics of bamboo but also has better bending resistance, compression resistance, and abrasion resistance. It is mostly used in the manufacturing and processing of children's desks, chairs, and children's beds. It is worth mentioning that because bamboo has good heat absorption capacity, it is suitable for children to use in hot environments.


3. Wood-plastic composite materials

  Wood-plastic composite material is a new type of composite material that is made of wood fiber materials and thermoplastics as the main raw materials and processed by melting compound extrusion or molding methods. The wood-plastic material is mainly composed of wood fiber, so it has a texture similar to that of solid wood. Different from virgin wood, the wood-plastic composite material has the advantages of being moisture-proof, anti-corrosion, and insect-proof; at the same time, it is not easy to deform because of its inherent plastic. Wood-plastic composite materials are often used in the design of children's bathroom furniture, such as washstands, heightened stools, etc., and at the same time, it is also convenient to design a furniture structure that can be adjusted to the size of the furniture in different growth periods of children.
